“When I was little and believed that everything was possible…”
Carlos Acostaneyra's paintings emerge from a deeply personal world—the remembered landscape of childhood, a time when his parents were alive, the family home opened onto a yard filled with trees and animals, and imagination seemed without limits.
Rather than reconstructing those memories literally, Acostaneyra carries their emotional language into the present. Houses, figures, animals, water and fantastical forms inhabit densely layered worlds where memory and imagination coexist.
Across these works, childhood is not presented simply as something lost. It remains a source—an enduring way of seeing the world with curiosity, possibility and wonder.

THE ARTIST
Carlos Acostaneyra
Carlos Acostaneyra was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1962 and has lived and worked in Miami since 2000. He studied at Havana’s Academia de Artes San Alejandro from 1989 to 1993.
Acostaneyra’s paintings emerge from a deeply personal visual language shaped by memory, childhood and imagination. Figures, animals, houses, water and fantastical landscapes inhabit richly layered compositions that transform remembered experiences into worlds of color, possibility and wonder.
His work has been exhibited in Cuba and the United States, with presentations in Havana, California and Miami. Selected exhibitions include Viernes Culturales, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, Miami Dade College and the MDC Museum of Art + Design, as well as numerous solo and group exhibitions.
